Aguilar Raises $300K in Second Quarter #CA31

Redlands Mayor Pete Aguilar announced Tuesday night that he raised $300,000 in the second quarter for his highly contested primary bid in California’s 31st District.

Aguilar now has almost $290,000 cash on hand in the race.

Aguilar, who has the backing of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, is facing three fellow Democrats and current Rep. Gary G. Miller, R-Calif., in this targeted race.

Democratic attorney Eloise Gomez Reyes announced Monday that she raised $200,000 in the second quarter. Former Rep. Joe Baca, D-Calif., local school board official Danny Tillman and Miller have yet to release their fundraising totals.

Democrats are looking to win this seat back from Miller, who won the redrawn district in 2012. President Barack Obama carried the district with 57 percent.

Aguilar was one of several Democrats who ran for the seat in 2012, but he lost in the state’s top-two primary to Miller and another Republican.

The 31st District race is rated Lean Democrat by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.
