Another Democrat Vies for Open House Seat in Detroit

Michigan state Sen. Vincent Gregory announced on Monday he will run for the open House seat in Michigan’s 14th District.
“Today in Washington, forces in the Republican party have lined up to derail the Affordable Care Act simply because they don’t want people to have the right to quality health care,” the Democrat said in a news release.
State Rep. Rudy Hobbs, political consultant Jessica McCall, Lathrup Village Councilwoman Kelly Garrett, and veteran Steve Dunwoody are also running for the Democratic nomination.
The winner of that primary will almost certainly win the general election in this heavily Democratic district. This is a race to succeed Democratic Rep. Gary Peters, who is running for Senate in 2014.
