California: Race Pits Phil Donahue Against Barney Frank

Former TV talk-show host Phil Donahue is headlining a fundraiser on Capitol Hill tonight for 2nd district candidate Norman Solomon.

Donahue has joined the Democrat on the trail in the redrawn coastal district in Northern California. Solomon is one of 10 Democrats vying for the seat of retiring Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D).

Reps. John Conyers (Mich.) and Raúl Grijalva (Ariz.) are hosting the 6 p.m. event at the Mott House on Maryland Avenue Northeast. Minimum contributions are $100.

Meanwhile, state Assemblyman Jared Huffman, the leading Democrat vying for the seat, announced on Wednesday the endorsement of Rep. Barney Frank (Mass.). Frank will join Huffman on May 6 for two events in Marin and Sonoma counties.

Twelve Members, as well as Sen. Dianne Feinstein, have already endorsed Huffman.
