Clay Aiken Preparing Congressional Bid in North Carolina

“American Idol” runner-up Clay Aiken is preparing to run for Congress as a Democrat in North Carolina’s 2nd District, multiple Democratic sources confirmed to CQ Roll Call.

But his candidacy is being met with skepticism by some Tar Heel State Democrats, who are holding out hope of making it a race in this Republican-leaning district.

Aiken, a Raleigh native, is looking to take on second-term GOP Rep. Renee Ellmers in the central North Carolina district, which President Barack Obama lost by 15 points in 2012. Raleigh-based WRAL reported Thursday that Aiken is building a campaign team and is expected to formally announce next month.

Democratic operatives said Aiken has met with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee about the campaign. When asked, the DCCC declined to comment on whether any such meeting took place.

If Aiken gets into the race, some Democrats concede that his celebrity status would raise the profile of the race, which in turn could bring in resources. But will he be able to turn his name recognition into support?

“It’s a tough district; it’s a conservative-leaning district,” Democratic consultant Morgan Jackson said. “It’s a matter of can he tap into the base of folks who have been buying his albums for years?”

Former state Commerce Secretary Keith Crisco and attorney Houston Barnes, both Democrats, have already entered the race.

Democratic sources said Crisco, a 70-year-old businessman and former Asheboro city councilman who launched his campaign earlier this month, offers the kind of candidate profile that would give the party a shot there — and that an Aiken candidacy could hinder Crisco’s chances.

“It’s a tough seat to begin with, and [Aiken] would have problems getting someone to take him seriously,” one neutral North Carolina Democrat said of Aiken’s candidacy.

North Carolina’s 2nd District is rated a Safe Republican contest by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.

While that would be commendable, I still wouldn’t vote for him. The person he will run against ALREADY opposes amnesty, mass illegal immigration and Obamacare. Better yet: The person Aiken would face is opposed to most of the radical DNC party platform and its smugly audacious arrogance.

Unfortunately, that’s not likely the happen–the DEMS own the amnesty/open border’s agenda (aided and abetted by the corporatist plutocracy and their GOP flukies in Congress like Boehner et al.) The Dems want a 3rd world country where there’s one party, the Democrat Party. If you don’t think so, just look at how Cuomo is treating conservatives in NY State–the party of “tolerance” is showing that it is anything but tolerant to those who disagree with its political agenda.

      Electronic voting has consequences

Who made the electronic voting machine, who maintains the electronic voting machine, who programmed the electronic voting machine’s soft ware, and who counts the votes….

The holes in the links of the chain alone should warrant attention and yet here we have some advocating texting in votes and on line voting …

Remember when once upon a time We demanded those who vote to provide identification and we were even shown one poll worker voted six times and that is the one who bragged about it in Ohio, Recall folks?

Ohio just found out illegals voted as well. Let’s refresh…

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted announced Wednesday that his office found 17 non-citizens illegally cast ballots in the 2012 presidential election — and has referred the case for possible prosecution.

The alleged crime would be a notable case of voter fraud in a key swing state. By law, only American citizens are allowed the privilege of casting ballots for the nation’s leaders.

I have a responsibility to uphold election law, and under both federal and state law you must be a citizen to vote,” said Husted, a Republican who has aggressively tried to investigate voter fraud cases in his state.

Husted also found that 694 illegals remain on the voting rolls as of today. Originally it was thought only 274 illegals remain on the rolls. Now , it is up to 1500 plus and counting.

And Boehner has done nothing about voter fraud in Ohio even. Interesting

Do recall Boehner hired McCain’s illegal immigrant advocate rather than hiring personal who want to help Americans and legal US immigrants get back to work and become gainfully employed …

Examples: ‘Ohio Syrians say they’re ‘doing what we can’ to help’ USA Today September 5, 2013

‘Girl wounded in Syria finds care, caring in Ohio’ June 10, 2013

Anyone who cares about the future of the USA should realize that Boehner, Cantor, Ryan, Cole, etc., are just tools of the corporatist plutocracy that runs Wall Street, Silicon Valley, and the major corporations who are salivating at the thought of passing this “comprehensive immigration” bill with its provisions for amnesty, increased H-1B visas, and significantly higher legal immigration quotas. This is the “cheap labor” lobby that is paying these Republicans to do their bidding–pass this law in one form or another, and straddle the American people with millions more legal immigrants who will drive down wages and raise unemployment levels for decades while the corporations get all the cheap labor they want, and the US taxpayer will foot the bill for the social services, including health care, that these mostly poor and/or mostly poorly educated immigrants will receive while American workers face chronic unemployment and wage stagnation–yet are subjected to higher taxes to pay for these services. Corporations and the wealthy, including Congresspeople, benefit while the rest of us suffer.

You do realize, state officials run elections, not federal officials. John Boehner is the Speaker of the House, he has nothing to do with enforcing voter laws in elections. That falls on the state officials. Even if a federal election law is broken, it is handled by the Justice Department, of which John Boehner has no control.

Clay is only famous for coming in second place on American Idol, announcing that he was gay, placing second on Celebrity Apprentice and also spending a fortune on plastic surgery.

I just don’t understand why anyone in that district would want him as their representative. Yes, he earned a degree in Special Education. However, he never actually USED the degree after he earned it.

I can’t imagine why he thinks that he is qualified to represent a district that just doesn’t seem to reflect his views. How would he even represent the regular people in that district?

“It’s a tough district; it’s a conservative-leaning district,” Democratic consultant Morgan Jackson said. “It’s a matter of can he tap into the base of folks who have been buying his albums for years?”
This is known as the Hillary Clinton effect….no accomplishments, no policies pushed that actually helped every American, not just the 1% , horrible record as secretary of state and junior senator. She ran on her cheating, impeached husbands name….
She too, is known for finishing in second place…just like Clay.

The plan seems to be ,”Lets hope the people in this district disregard his agenda and vote for him on the fact he is Claymation”. And this country wonders why we are in so much trouble thanks to the gop establishment and the Democare party.
I cant wait to see him defend Democare, to a group of people who just had their plans cancelled , thanks to the same policy he is defending.
In fact , I can’t wait to see all Democare members defend the fact you cant keep your plan or your doc

this is the typical political scam. hope you have name recognition, good or bad policies / ideas , don’t seem to matter…

Isn’t this the boy who was forced to drink a bucket of urine in a public restaurant a couple of years ago? I must assume that he held a number of local offices after that tragic event. He probably served in the military after that. I suspect he obtained a degree in political science along the way. Maybe he interned in the State Department at some point and now he is ready to represent the people of his district. I’m sure he has a strong grasp of agricultural issues as well as banking and budget problems. He probably has detailed knowledge terrorism and how that relates to high risk sites in NC. I’m certain he is familiar with commerce and international laws that concern large scale businesses in the state. Of course his grasp of criminal law and the courts is beyond reproach. I have no doubt that in these times of out of control spending, new health care issues, foreign wars and constricting work force issues that there is no one more qualified to represent the people of North Carolina than a young pop singer. I wonder if he has an ideological reason for wanting the reigns of power?

Aiken doesn’t have a chance in h e l l. This must be his new way of drawing attention to himself before releasing a new album. Just a new marketing slant by using other people’s money to get him there.

So the democrat pigs are hoping that Aiken will lean on his album sales to get the seat? Okay, North Carolina – surely you aren’t that far gone yet.

He’s not smart enough to represent North Carolina as either a Democrat or Republican. Don’t be fooled by WRAL’s foaming at the mouth and fawning over a celebrity Democrat. He’s just doing it for the financial security of a House position.

I don’t know about that. There are a lot of fringe left wing lunatics in Asheville who migated from blue state cesspools. Probaly enough to vote him in as mayor of Asheville but he wouldn’t win Mark Meadows’ congressional seat.

The only way she can win is if ds hijack her friendly manilow presentation, while they go on rino safari. That is how they have always succeeded.

Clay’s #1 focus has always been on education and inclusion. He has been the Unicef Ambassador of Education World Wide since 2004. He was a Special Ed teacher before fame. He founded The National Inclusion Project in 2003 to provide funds and training to promote Inclusion for all children in classrooms and recreation. He has a school aged son and is very concerned about the dismantling of decades of progress in the School system particularly in North Carolina. He was on President Bush’s Committee to Help Persons with Intellectual Disabilities. Oh yeah, he’s also gay.

He has to ‘tap into the people who buy his music’? This is now a qualification for a political person? This world is so sick. I am sure he will make a great Communist for the Oblunda Administration. Soon he will be quoting from the quran too along with Hitlary!
