Club for Growth Passes on Steve Stockman

The Club for Growth announced Tuesday it will not support Rep. Steve Stockman’s primary bid to unseat Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas.

“While Congressman Stockman has a pro-economic growth record, so does Senator Cornyn, as witnessed by his 87% lifetime Club for Growth score,” Club for Growth President Chris Chocola said in a statement.

“Our PAC evaluates three factors when looking at races that involve incumbents: 1) the strength of the incumbent’s record; 2) the degree of difference between the incumbent and the challenger on economic issues; and 3) the viability of the challenger. None of those factors weigh against Senator Cornyn, so we do not expect to be involved in the Texas Senate race.”

Stockman filed to challenge Cornyn at the eleventh hour on Monday’s filing deadline. But the congressman faces incredible odds to topple the senator. He needs massive amounts of cash to compete in the March 4 primary, and help from outside groups like the club would have boosted his fundraising.

That is fine Cornyn is nothing but an Obama hugger . . . and he gives “Dirty Hairy” passes all the time. Cornyn and McConnell must go!

Where are you from? Senator Cornyn has a more conservative voting record than any Tea Party darling. Just because he didn’t kiss up to the junior member from Texas….who by the way, flew to South Africa to the Mandela memorial. Seems to me as though Cruz may be the Obama hugger.

    Cornyn is a crony capitalistic thug,a Crook… !

All I can think is that Stockman thought he was going down in the Republican primary for his House seat.

I’m sitting up here on DC’s doorstep with a birds-eye view. Cornyn isn’t what he tells you he is. He is a copy of McConnell and if you read between the lines Club For Growth doesn’t want either one of them. If Cornyn was so great Club for Growth would have come out and backed him against Stockman. With all the time he has had in Washington and not to get the support over Stockman outright should tell you something independent of me.

As for Cruz going to Africa, it had nothing to do with Obama except for being on the same plane. Around 40 Congressional People went to pay their respects to Mandela.

Food fight! Food fight! Steve Stockman from Friendswood, Texas is being investigated and is all over the news lately about misdeeds, money laundering and other failures, but he decides to challenge John Cornyn. An openly blatant TEA-type, he would challenge to change topics, even as he is being brought to task over improprieties.(… )(… )

Texas already has a name across the nation with Rafael Eduardo Cruz, now Stockman will run for Cornyn’s seat. TEA-types use the crimson (R) when running, when they should use their own scarlet (T)! It will take boots-on-the-ground, grass-roots effort to get this done. Do not sit at home and allow others to make your decisions for you. Get involved locally and at the state level. It is more important now than ever! If you are not happy with the way your congress person is working – Fire him/her! Sweep the Senate clean in 2014! Sweep the House clean in 2014! Remove the TEA-types and Republicans who have been shutting down programs beneficial to the public. Not voting is like voting for the opposition! V.O.T.E.(Vote Out The Encumberance)

Ted Cruz is a bought and paid for( to the tune of 5 million dollars) Club for Growth man. Palin fell his ‘Tea Party’ schtick.
