Conservative Group Backs State Lawmaker Over Bob Barr in Georgia

The Madison Project PAC, a group that supports conservative candidates across the country, endorsed Republican state Sen. Barry Loudermilk in Georgia’s 11th District, according to a release obtained exclusively by CQ Roll Call.

“As an expert on the history of our founders and the founding documents, Sen. Loudermilk understands that the only path to fundamentally restoring our constitutional republic is over the heads of leadership in both parties,” Madison Project President Drew Ryun said in a release.

Loudermilk is one of many in a crowded GOP field seeking to replace Rep. Phil Gingrey, who is running for Georgia’s open Senate seat in 2014.

Other Republicans in the field include one-time presidential candidate and ex-Rep. Bob Barr, state House Majority Whip Ed Lindsey and businesswoman Tricia Pridemore, among others.

Georgia’s 11th District is rated a Safe Republican contest by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.

Restoring our constitutional republic? Do men have to wear powdered wigs if Loudermilk is elected.

This is a seat that democrats could win – all they have to do is run an anti-extremist campaign as in Georgia does not need or want any more conservative extremists obstructing the process of basic governance in Washington …we need someone SANE and one who does not see the job as a way to enact radicalized conservative social and societal policies or the fascist agendas of ALEC like organizations. There is a strong Catholic and Jewish presence in this district and they should fear the evangelical political agenda and vote that way.

Lets all hope that Georgia democrats get up and show they are not extremist conservatives and remind the people that Georgia makes actual progress and economic prosperity under Democrats and will once AGAIN stop the downward spiral that corrupt and extremist republicans have put this state on.

It’s not much, but at least Loudermilk is somewhat more sane than Barr.

Vote for Loudermilk he’s less crazy! Great slogan.
