Conservative Groups Divided in Nebraska Senate Race

In a display of the unpredictability of the race, conservative groups are falling on opposite sides of the Republican Senate primary in Nebraska.

FreedomWorks, a tea-party-affiliated group that has backed candidates like Sens. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Rand Paul, R-Ky., announced Monday that it has endorsed former state Treasurer Shane Osborn.

That news came just days after Midland University President Ben Sasse landed the second of two coveted conservative endorsements from the Club for Growth and Senate Conservatives Fund.

Last cycle, in another Cornhusker State open-seat race, all three groups backed Don Stenberg, who ended up losing the GOP nomination to now-Sen. Deb Fischer.

They are running next year to replace retiring Sen. Mike Johanns. The race is rated Safe Republican by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.

    Shane Osborn is Da Man!

Is this Shane Osborne by any chance related to the legendary coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team?

TEA-types. Enough said. Nebraska will have a serious decision, especially given the antics of Rafael Eduardo Cruz and the nation-wide current standing of the Republican party. The TEA-types have bastardized the Republican party enough to cause a severe split in TEA-types, the Republican party itself and other segments like the evangelicals and Libertarians. Independent have exited as well. TEA-Republicans along with Evangelicals and Libertarians, will run their candidates hawking against same-sex marriages, keeping minimum wage minimal, limiting healthcare for the poor and weak while cutting taxes and creating tax abatements for the privileged. It is going to take boots-on-the-ground, full-court press to off-set massive money to be thrown around. Work hard to clean state houses and Washington. IF YOU DO NOT REGISTER TO VOTE AND DO NOT VOTE, OR ARE DENIED YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE, IT IS JUST LIKE VOTING FOR THE OPPOSITION!

Nope. Tom Osborne actually endorsed a different candidate, Sid Dinsdale.
