After a brief reconsideration, Rep. Dave Camp, R-Mich., has decided once and for all that he will not seek the Wolverine State’s open Senate seat.

“Over the past few months, I have received a lot of encouragement to run for the United States Senate,” the Ways and Means Committee chairman said in a Friday statement. “I have greatly appreciated and am deeply humbled by those calls and conversations. After much thought and careful consideration, I have decided not to run for the United States Senate.”

Camp’s decision leaves Republicans with former Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land as the party’s lone candidate for the seat of retiring Democratic Sen. Carl Levin. However, Republican Rep. Justin Amash has not yet taken his name out of the running.

Democrats have gotten behind Rep. Gary Peters, who had $1.8 million in cash on hand as of June 30. He’s currently favored, as the race is rated Safe Democrat by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.

Camp, R- Da UP is so ignorant he isn’t allowed to fly thru the lower part of the state where 90% of voters live

Camp doesn’t represent the UP – his 4th district is entirely in the “mitten” of central Michigan, all below the bridge by at least 100 miles. The UP is entirely contained within the 1st district, represented by Dan Benishek.

Camp had a long shot, Land has no shot. Senator Peters can start measuring drapes.

Since liberty impels a free country’s citizens to unleash their talents, skills, and knowledge, free citizens are able to learn more, know more, and achieve more than those subjected to collectivism’s ever-shifting mirage of illusions.
