Democratic Super PAC Funnels More Funds Into Louisiana

Senate Majority PAC has put more money behind an attack ad against Louisiana Rep. Bill Cassidy, the top Republican running against vulnerable Democratic Sen. Mary L. Landrieu in one of this cycle’s most competitive races.

The super PAC, which boosts Democratic Senate candidates, purchased an additional $344,000 in air time for an ad against Cassidy, according to spending report filed with the Federal Election Commission.

The ad, first released in December, hits Cassidy for his votes to raise the retirement age, as well as his votes to shut down the government. The initial buy for the 30-second ad was $250,000, according to documents filed with the FEC. Senate Majority PAC Campaigns Director Ty Matsdorf confirmed the additional funds would go toward continuing to air the following spot:

Cassidy, retired Air Force Col. Rob Maness and state Rep. Paul Hollis are running against Landrieu in November. Landrieu is one of the most vulnerable Democrats seeking re-election this cycle, and President Barack Obama lost the state by a 17-point margin in 2012.

Louisiana’s Senate race is rated a Tossup by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.

It’s really nice watching democrats throwing good money into a race they have already lost.

I would watch the Democrats very carefully this election cycle. They’re willing to do what it takes to win, including stealing votes. Louisiana still has a lot of Democrats counting the votes. Didn’t Stalin once say, “It’s not who votes that counts, it’s who counts the votes.”

      • Mygoodness

The problem for the democrats is since Katrina the population of New Orleans is down by a third, that means they can only vote two thirds of the usual dead votes. The people north of Alexandria are Duck Dynasty voters, with Phil Robertson backing the Republicans. Mary and company are going to have a hard time pulling this one out.

I am for a change. Mary Landrieu has voted for gun control,Obamacare, plus every thing that Obama wants she will vote for it.NO NO NO Mary vote for Rob Maness he will protect your freedom and rights and not back down in a fight.

I’m sure like any politician, he’ll make you believe that, but I’m almost certain that once elected the only issues that you claim he will ‘fight for freedom and rights’ for will only be for self-serving purposes and not your individual interests…

      • James McClendon

I am sure he will fight to repel Obama care, gun control.CC AND BILL OF RIGHTS. He retired after 32 years in the air force because his wife had breast cancel and they were not please with the doctors in the air force.

I doubt it, he’ll be like all the rest – making promises to get elected and once elected reap the benefits to prop up his 200+ acre farm.

Also, someone who intends to rail against govt healthcare because his wife couldn’t get elective surgery is a bit hypocritical – sounds like since he couldn’t get what he wanted out of the govt, then no one else should. Between having 32 yrs and a large farm, i think he could’ve originally chose a private doctor, but he didn’t, he CHOSE govt healthcare. Makes me wonder about his judgement on other things. I’m sure the party will dictate those choices for him.

Do the democrats actually think that the hardworking taxpayers in Louisiana give a rat’s azz about the government shutdown? The majority of them probably doesn’t realize that the government was even shut down. But you can bet that they sure know that their health insurance has been canceled or that their premiums have doubled or tripled under obamacare. The democrats are so desperate that they’re grasping at straws.

Consistent Democratic strategy: no problem is too big to spend your way out of – using someone else’s money.

Landrieu will not be saved by her crucifix necklace she has her aide carry around in the event of an unexpected interview, she’s barely pulled it out the last two times…..the third’s a win for LA, then she can move to San Fran where she own a home.
