Democratic Super PAC Defends Health Care Law on Airwaves
Posted at 8:06 a.m. on Feb. 12
House Majority PAC, a Democratic super PAC dedicated to elected House Democrats, started airing an ad Wednesday to defend Rep. Joe Garcia, D-Fla., on the recent health care law.
The spot proclaims Garcia is ”working to fix Obamacare” and he ”took the White House to task for the disastrous health care website.”
Garcia will seek re-election in the competitive 26th District in Miami. This race is rated Tilts Democratic by the Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.
HMP appears to be answering buys from Americans for Prosperity, a conservative group that targeted Garcia last week in a multi-race ad campaign. Notably, the early ad wars here also offer some insight into how both sides plan will handle the flawed rollout of that law.
The conservative ad seeks to tie Garcia to the most controversial aspects of the Affordable Care Act, including Obama’s “If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan” promise. Americans for Prosperity leads its ad noting that PolitiFact deemed that repeated statement its “Lie of the Year” in 2013.
