Florida: Adam Hasner Picks Up Jeb Bush Endorsement
Posted at 10:02 a.m. on Feb. 16, 2012
Former Florida House Majority Leader Adam Hasner, running for Congress in the coastal 22nd district, picked up the endorsement of popular former Gov. Jeb Bush (R).
It will give Hasner, a former candidate for Senate, a boost in his uphill climb to win the newly drawn district, currently represented by Rep. Allen West (R). West is running in another district.
The redrawn 22nd would have voted 57 percent for Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election. Hasner will likely face former West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel in November.
“I am proud to endorse my friend Adam Hasner for the U.S. House of Representatives in District 22,” Bush said in a statement released by the Hasner campaign. “Adam has a passion for reform and for common-sense conservative solutions, and he will take that passion to a Washington that is certainly in need of both. The challenges America faces grow each and every day, and we need representatives that share Adam’s commitment to principle, his dedication to government accountability and his proven record in working for his community.”
Hasner represented a chunk of the 22nd district during his tenure in the Florida House, giving him a better shot at the Democratic-leaning seat than he would otherwise have.
