Internal Email Names 17 House GOP Targets for Recess

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee plans to target 17 House Republicans with a grass-roots push over the August recess, according to an internal party email obtained by CQ Roll Call.

On Monday, a DCCC aide sent a message to an email list sponsored by Americans United for Change, a liberal organization, describing the committee’s plans for the month-long break and including the warning, “please do not share this list with press.”

“In the majority of these districts we have field staffers on the ground, coordinated through the respective state parties, to define and hold accountable vulnerable Republican incumbents, through earned media tactics, messaging amplification, and community outreach,” wrote Ryan Daniels, the deputy national press secretary and African-American media adviser.

The DCCC’s list includes some of this cycle’s most-often mentioned vulnerable Republicans, but there are some lesser-known targets as well:

  • #AR01: Rep. Rick Crawford
  • #AR02: Rep. Tim Griffin
  • #CA10: Rep. Jeff Denham
  • #CA21: Rep. David Valadao
  • #CO06: Rep. Mike Coffman
  • #IA03: Rep. Tom Latham
  • #IL13: Rep. Rodney Davis
  • #MN02: Rep. John Kline
  • #MN03: Rep. Erik Paulsen
  • #MI07: Rep. Tim Walberg
  • #MI11: Rep. Kerry Bentivolio
  • #NE02: Rep. Lee Terry
  • #NJ02: Rep. Frank A. LoBiondo
  • #NJ03: Rep. Jon Runyan
  • #NY11: Rep. Michael G. Grimm
  • #NY23: Rep. Tom Reed
  • #PA08: Rep. Michael G. Fitzpatrick

“I know that we’ve shared information regarding events these members are holding and we’ll continue to share information in the future, as we get it,” Daniels continued in his email. “Additionally, if you have resources on the ground in any of these target districts, I’d love to put them in touch with our staffers on the ground as well, so we can coordinate efforts.”

Democrats face a tough task this cycle in their quest for the majority. They must pick up 17 seats to take the speaker’s gavel, but the number of competitive races this cycle is much smaller than in previous years. Still, the committee plans to target dozens of Republicans throughout the fall and this cycle.

“The more voters learn about how this obstructionist Republican Congress is decimating the middle class, jobs and the economy, the more they want a change,”said DCCC spokeswoman Emily Bittner when asked for comment about the list. “We’re putting Republicans on defense, deep into their own territory, using every tool in the tool box to make sure voters know the real record of this broken Republican Congress.”

Liars every last 1 of them an we pay for obamacare an the congress and its underlings pay zero?

  • donaldeljohnson

Mike Coffman is pandering to immigration deform advocates in Aurora, CO. That will win him one or two Hispanic votes for every 20 conservative votes he’ll lose in Centennial. The guy has no real beliefs. He’s basically a government lifer.

  • Bill Chelmowski

Just what you would expect from Communists

  • Michael Warren

I don’t know who does thier research and who is giving them information, but they are dead wrong on some of these races. The 2 Arkansas seats are no more in risk than Jesse Jackson joining the KKK, same for Lobiondo’s seat in NJ. I don’t know if they hired Richard Gephardt to do all this but they need some new people if they think they are going to knock of these people and take the house. Most people myself includedid don’t think they will in 2014, maybe 2016 but not 2014

  • Freedom First

If each of us were alike, our decisions, tastes, and actions would all be the same, there would be no reason for expressions such as “living my own life”, and there would be little case for liberty.

  • Daniel Lilly

I’m here in AR2, and Griffin is VERY vulnerable, most important, with his own constituency. War horse libs like myself have never liked him, but due to the Mayflower, AR pipeline burst on Good Friday, his opposition to a Veteran’s Day Center opening in downtown Little Rock (he’s a JAG Lawyer in Nat’l Guard), and his stout opposition to ACA (despite State Republicans “taking the $$$”-the ONLY Southern State to do so, I might add)…These three things attack: suburban and exurban voters, game and fish enthusiasts, Veterans, and his own State Republican Party Legislators. Those ARE Arkansas Republican voters. I can’t speak to Crawford at all, but attention Big $$ donors-your money will go a LOT further in AR2 than virtually anywhere else in the midterms

Despite collectivist claims that individualism opposes altruism, it is egoism that is the opposite of altruism and it is individualism which is the opposite of collectivism.

  • BlueTrooth

Ahem…someone didn’t get the “please do not share this list with press.” memo…that trick is as old as the three dollar bill.

  • Johnnie Goode

Congress and its employees continue to get the same insurance subsidy they always got, just like most full time workers get part of their insurance paid by their employers. Yet the GOP and the so-called liberal press have turned this into some kind of scandal.

  • Freedom First

Without centralized coercive power, it is impossible to force people to chase illusions such as “fair” income distribution, “man-made climate change”, and “social justice”.

  • greggersmd

hehe, this isnt the 1980s. the only ppl who think of communist as an insult are going to be dead of old age by the next presidential election.

  • greggersmd

can someone please tell me what this even means?

  • Poughkeepsie

    Egoism opposes altruism.
    Collectivism opposes individualism.

Hussein Obama and Karl Marx are examples of egotistical collectivism.

Jesus Christ is an example of individual altruism. (Love thy neighbor as thyself)

  • greggersmd

    Bad opposes good.
    Weakness opposes strength.

Republicans and you are examples of badness and weakness.

Jesus Christ is an example of good strength.

Did I win today’s Nonsensical Word Salad and Arbitrary Association Award? If not, did I at least come in second to you?

  • Poughkeepsie

    That doesn’t make any sense.

It is today’s democrats, liberals, and progressives who are waging war against Christianity.

In fact, for all intents and purposes, today’s liberalism has all of the elements of a primitive counter-Christian religion.

  • 1kygent2

Rep. John Yarmuth (D) Louisville KY is hated here. His friends cost the taxpayers 200 million to build a TUNNEL under a useless scrap of land to get to the Ohio river bridge and he’s an Obama fanatic. Fire him.

  • greggersmd

Aww, the victim card. It’s so hard to be a Christian these days. With all the Christian bashings and Christian lynchings, I don’t know how ya’ll survive.

  • Poughkeepsie

The wars being waged against Christians in Egypt and Syria are very well documented.

  • greggersmd

And it’s all Barack HUSSEIN Obama’s fault! Screech!!!!! You Republicans have become so shrill.

  • greggersmd

Just to clarify your position on this: Obama is personally responsible for the safety of every single Christian in the world and the death of any Christian anywhere in the world proves he is an anti-Christian soulless Muslim zombie child eating librhul?

If you Republicans held your leaders to even half that level responsibility I’d be willing to consider voting for your party again. But alas, it is not to be.

  • Poughkeepsie

Well, everyone knows that Hussein Obama is an atheist, marxist communist.

Which, of course, is a primitive religion that essentially competes with Christianity and seeks Christianity’s destruction.

  • Poughkeepsie

Hussein Obama is a delusional marxist.

There’s really no question about that.

  • greggersmd

perhaps. but he’s still your president.

  • Steven Robinson

So greggersmd you are proud to be a communist? Obamalinsky made communism, under its various derivations in ‘vogue’ since he is an avowed “neo-Marxist”. By the way do you know the difference between a Socialist and a Communist (aka Marxist)? The Socialist (Bernie Sanders types) will look the other way while the Communist (Bill Ayers) will put a bullet in your brain. Another way of describing it, is a Socialist is a Marxist without Balls (testicles to public school graduates)!

  • Steven Robinson

I doubt that the high school level explanation will be understood by you for at least another 5-7 years, greggersmd. It’s just to much for your mind to understand when all you’re currently capable of is Occupy WS type demonstrations. Kinda like stomping your feet to get a cookie.

  • Steven Robinson

He is also a traitor to OUR Country

  • greggersmd

Demonstrations are kinda part of democracy. They might not always work in the immediate, but they bring to light issues that should be addressed by the political system in the long run.

  • greggersmd

I am an avowed socialist. And your anger is showing. Is this the temper tantrum of a powerless political party/philosophy that’s had its butt handed to it? Kinda like stomping your feet to get a cookie?

Just sit back and watch the adults in the room like Obama and Reid run this show.

  • ALsenior

No! The real traitors, anarchists, and treasonists are the right-wing GOP Tea Party nuts who want to shut down government and default on government debts!!!!

  • Steven Robinson

As opposed to the Occupy Wall Street a$$holes (like yourself) who vandalize other peoples’ properties, destroy the free market economic system (which made the U.S. the greatest nation in the history of the world!) and establish the “socialist utopia” as Maobamalinsky promised in his commitment to the “Fundamental Transformation” of America. Is that right A(bsolute) L(iar) senior??

  • JHProgressive

Talk about delusional…wow…do you even know what communist is or what a communist or socialist government is? Probably not since you have lumped them together and they are far from the same. If you did you would never call Obama a realize that’s communism right and has nothing to do with socialism? No you don’t? Yeah probably not..moving on.

I wouldn’t even call him a real progressive president and some could argue that he is closer to what a Moderate Republican was in the 80’s and before…which leads me to wonder if you even know what that is? Of course if you follow the republican party you might not recognize one because they don’t exist in the party anymore. The propaganda against Obama has been so ridiculous that someone as moderate as him is called a socialist just shows how extreme the right wing has gotten.

You my friend are just one of many that have bought into the billionaire funded propaganda that has swept the nation especially back in 2009/10. You could also be apart of it for all I know and also… now I admit I’m making an assumption but I’m guessing you are also a Tea Party republican? If you actually did any kind of research or looked at any bill proposed or voted down or examined the slogans used by Tea Party candidates and the movement you’d realize that everything they are about is to make the rich richer and protect their donors…nothing to protect the american people or to help the american people, if fact that haven’t done anything in that regards. The anti-government slogans/mantra is just propaganda paid for by millionaires/billionaires (most notably the Koch Bros) to dismantle government programs and privatize them so their donors and themselves can make money off them (because they have absolutely no need for most of these programs since they never use them due to being really well off).

Now I’m sure I’m probably talking to a wall here as anyone that calls Obama a Marxist must be so far in a world of delusion that it would take a Christmas miracle to pull them out of it but I’m pretty sick of seeing this incredibly silly illogical statements.

As for war on Christians..yeah about that..How about a war on people that think this is a christian nation founded by Christians instead of a nation founded on freedom of religion. Once again if you knew about the history of our country you’d note that MOST of our founding fathers including a few early presidents were DEIST not Christians. What this means is they believed in a God but not a personal god and especially not the Christian god, Jefferson even made several statements against Christianity himself. One thing a lot atheist and Christians alike get wrong is with the word “God”. Most people within our country think of the christian god when we say “God” but this is not how the founding fathers used it, they used it as a general statement of God as is the case with Deism.

In short, just get over it. We were founded by people of the enlightenment period or the age of many ways more further along than most current Americans like yourself. Oh yeah and Obama is a christian any ways so good luck with that argument that holds absolutely no water.

  • CherMoe

More than likely, we won’t have to do much at all. I think Republicans have pretty much committed political suicide all on their own. Thanks for savings us some money, guys.

  • CherMoe

Red staters don’t know how to vote except to push the Republican button. What we’re seeing in Washington with both the Sequester AND the government shutdown pretty much sums up where the “useless pieces of crap” really are … and they’ve been boozing it up and celebrating after voting to hurt some more of the American people. RANSOM NOTES … issued by useless pieces of crap. And yet they still get to collect their TAXPAYER-PAID wages for doing NOTHING.
