Sen. Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., announced on Thursday that she raised more than $1.2 million  in the first quarter of this year, more than double what her new opponent hauled.

Her GOP challenger, Louisiana Rep. Bill Cassidy, raised $500,000 in the same time period. He officially entered the race last week.

Landrieu, who is considered to be one of the most vulnerable Democrats this cycle, will report $3.46 million in the bank, according to a news release from her campaign.

Her campaign touted that her first-quarter contributions come from more Louisiana donors than national donors, a fact the campaign says shows her “deep support in Louisiana.”

The three-term Democrat, who has survived two tough challenges in the state before, said in the release that her fundraising numbers make her confident in her re-election chances.

“I have a proven record of fighting and winning for Louisiana, and I’m confident in the broad and deep support I have statewide,” Landrieu said in the release.
