New Jersey: Shelley Adler Pokes Fun at Jon Runyan
Posted at 4:32 p.m. on Sept. 12, 2012
Attorney Shelley Adler (D) has put up an off-beat television ad poking fun at Rep. Jon Runyan’s (R) past as a professional football player. Adler is looking to unseat Runyan in New Jersey’s 3rd district.
The ad has a Runyan doppelganger in a business suit and football helmet running interference on elderly people with a chyron declaring “Runyan’s on the Wrong Team.” Runyan used to run interference as an offensive lineman for the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles.
The Adler campaign has put $65,000 behind the ad on cable and anticipates stepping up the buy in the weeks to come.
Catchy spot aside, Adler still has a difficult path to beating Runyan. The 3rd district is in the expensive Philadelphia media market. Roll Call rates this race as Leans Republican.
