Pennsylvania: NRCC Aide Declines Bid for Todd Platts’ Seat
Posted at 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 30, 2012
Brock McCleary, a top political aide at the National Republican Congressional Committee, will not run for Congress in his home state of Pennsylvania.
McCleary considered a bid in the 4th district in the wake of Rep. Todd Platts’ (R) retirement announcement. But on Monday, the NRCC’s deputy political director confirmed that he’s no longer looking at the seat.
Several GOP candidates already declared bids for likely Republican seat: state Rep. Scott Perry, York County Commissioner Chris Reilly and attorney Sean Summers. Reilly picked up a key endorsement last week when Sen. Pat Toomey (R) announced he’s supporting him.
