Senate Republicans Hire Southeast Political Director | Shop Talk

The National Republican Senatorial Committee has hired Michael Joffrion as its new regional political director for the Southeast.

That area will play a pivotal role in the 2014 elections — especially for Senate Republicans. Joffrion will oversee the committee’s efforts to topple Democratic incumbents in Arkansas, Louisiana and North Carolina, as well as hold on to retiring Sen. Saxby Chambliss’ GOP-held seat in Georgia.

Joffrion, who will report to political director Ward Baker, is a veteran of Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign. In 2012, he was a Romney campaign regional director and the state director in North Carolina.

He also has experience working for the Alabama and Missouri Republican parties. For the 2008 campaign, he was Rudy Giuliani’s field director.

“Senate Republicans are off to a strong start and are already on offense in key 2014 states,” NRSC Executive Director Rob Collins said in a press release of the Joffrion hire. “We are committed to ensuring our team is made up of energetic and sharp minds who will provide the tools, resources and know-how needed to hold Democrats accountable to their liberal record and win the majority.”
