Tea Party Candidate Hammers Boehner Ally on Amnesty

Two weeks from the primary, the tea party rival to Idaho Republican Rep. Mike Simpson is up with a new TV ad accusing the eight-term incumbent of supporting “amnesty.”

“Why are the Washington, D.C., special interests spending millions to prop up Mike Simpson?” a female narrator asks in attorney Bryan Smith’s ad. “Because he supports a scheme to give amnesty to illegal aliens.”

The race for Idaho’s 2nd District is one of the premiere House race face-offs between tea party groups and the pragmatic wing of the Republican party. Simpson is a close ally of House Speaker John A. Boehner, R-Ohio.

However, one of Smith’s biggest backers, the Club for Growth, cut spending on the race in recent weeks, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

Smith’s ad is backed by a $140,000 buy in the Boise, Twin Falls and Idaho Falls media markets, according to a campaign spokeswoman. Idaho is relatively inexpensive to air TV advertising.

In the immigration debate, the use of the word “amnesty” can range from granting illegal immigrants citizenship to anything short of immediate deportation.

A spokeswoman for the Smith campaign clarified Smith’s definition of “amnesty.”

“Giving people legal status when they are here illegally without having them return to their country of origin is amnesty,” Smith spokeswoman Carrie Brown wrote in an email. “It is not fair to the people that have gone through the system legally.”

Simpson’s backers in Washington are increasingly confident he will survive the challenge in the May 20 primary.

The race is rated Safe Republican by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.

The tea party is fighting the “pragmatic” wing of the republican party?????

    Are you on drugs?

The “pragmatic” wing of the republican party is
courting with granting various degrees of amnesty to 11 million unskilled,
uneducated laborers…who are competing for jobs and undercutting American businesses,
leveraging social services at the expense of the American taxpayer, dropping
anchor babies at the rate of 10,000 a month….then hooking into the gravy
train through them…….. in an American Economy that has 50-70 million people
on food stamps….47% that do not pay federal taxes, 15% (in real numbers) that
are unemployed….and the cap the whole thing off……the people they are
    talking about naturalizing…break 8 to 2 for democrats………..Did things
end well for the middle class…and the GOP in California after 86 amnesty?

Please tell me again who are being the
    “pragmatic” ones Abby?

Work Permits are giving illegal aliens the objective of their crime. To compete for jobs and wealth with Americans. From 19 July 2013:“Simpson wants badly to pass some of the piecemeal bills so that the
House can go to a conference committee with the Senate, where he hopes
the two chambers can strike a deal on a comprehensive bill. But when I
asked him about his colleagues who fear that the outcome of a conference
committee would be “amnesty” for illegal immigrants, he was frank: They
have a point, even if he disagrees with where they’re coming from.

Immigration reform has to coincide with welfare reform. The reason employers cannot find the workers they need if we do away with illegal immigration is because we often pay welfare recipients more to sit around and do nothing than to work at minimum wage jobs. The taxpayer is taken advantage of twice and has to subsidize both groups.

Is there anything prudent, just, or virtuous about $17 trillion in central government debt?

THE REPUBLICANS HAVE DENIED 2.6 MILLION UNEMPLOYED FAMILIES, UNEMPLOYMENT EXTENSION BENEFITS SINCE LAST DECEMBER. WHILE THEY CONTINUED TO HOLE THE EXTENSION BILL “HOSTAGE” IN THE SENATE, THESE FAMILIES HAVE LOST EVERYTHING. FOR THE PAST FIVE MONTHS THEY HAVE USED THESE UNEMPLOYED FAMILIES AS BARGAINING CHIPS FOR POLITICAL LEVERAGE TO FURTHER THEIR PARTY’S POLITICAL AGENDA. MILLIONS OF THESE FAMILIES HAVE FACED EVICTIONS, HOME FORECLOSURES, PERSONAL BANKRUPTCIES, AND HOMELESSNESS IN THE PROCESS. THE REPUBLICANS HAVE DELIBERATELY MADE DELAY AFTER DELAY, MONTH AFTER MONTH, SO THAT EVENTUALLY THE BILL WOULD BE TOO LATE TO VOTE ON IN THE SENATE. THEY HAVE STOOD ASIDE, WHILE THESE FAMILIES SUFFERED AND STRUGGLED TO FEED AND SHELTER THEIR CHILDREN. THEY PUT THEIR POLITICAL AGENDA BEFORE THE WELFARE OF THESE NEEDY FAMILIES. THEY HAVE DEMONSTRATED A TOTAL LACK OF COMPASSION AND COMMON HUMAN DECENCY. I ENCOURAGE ALL AMERICANS WHO HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY THIS BILL, OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO HAS SUFFERED BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE, TO NOT VOTE FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IN THE NEXT ELECTION. THEY HAVE SHOWN US THAT THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT US, LET’S NOT VOTE FOR THEM
