Senate hopeful Terri Lynn Land, a Republican, is up with her first ad of the cycle in Michigan, making fun of the idea that she — a woman — is waging a war on women.

Land is running against Rep. Gary Peters, D-Mich., for the seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich.

“Congressman Gary Peters and his buddies want you to believe I’m waging a war on women,” Land says, speaking directly to the camera in the 30-second ad.

“Really? Think about that for a moment,” says Land, who pauses, takes a sip of coffee, shakes her head and looks at her watch before beginning to speak again.

The $300,000 ad buy will run for six days in the Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids and Flint media markets, according to a GOP source monitoring Michigan television markets.

Land is one of just a few female Republicans seeking the Senate this cycle. Republicans are working to avoid the unforced errors of last cycle, when they lost otherwise winnable seats in Missouri and Indiana after GOP candidates made comments about rape that were perceived to be unfriendly to women.

The Michigan race has become more competitive in recent months — especially for a state that President Barack Obama carried by a 10-point margin last cycle. But Land has gotten a boost in recent weeks from large ad buys made by a deep-pocketed outside group, Americans for Prosperity.

Michigan’s Senate race is rated Leans Democrat by Rothenberg Political Report/Roll Call.

she is making fun of something that is both real and divisive – she is part of the conservatives war on women s rights and she is not on the side of women and she is taking the dark money that people do not believe should be allowed in politics.

When push comes to shove she will do her part to hurt the poor/women/children/minorities, ruin the public school system and support a fascistic oligarchy over the democratic system and governance that made this a great country.

Apparently she is forgetting that Phyllis Schafly is also a republican. Phyllis wants her (Land) to stay at home.
